Love all
Tennis has been my favourite sport right from the moment i started i understanding it. For reasons unknown to me, i liked monica seles at the first instance i watched her which means that i have to hate graf when the two met. Early days, I used to get angry at the lines lady when she shouted. My father would explain patiently that it gives points to monica. Tennis came to my life when Becker, Edberg were like present day Tendulkar. Probably the next 10 years or so, I followed every tournament i could watch. I could say top 20 players in both genders. Not to mention all the titbits about the players (Thanks to DD and world tel). Then came my college life. BS with it. Thanks to some idiots who didn't allow anything to be seen in english, my association with tennis was then narrowed down to only newspaper. i even missed the epic final b/w Goran Ivanisevic and Patrick Rafter. i had seen all his three lost finals but didn't see the winning one. Now, this f**king CAS is taking its toll on me. In the mean time, tennis lost its charisma as there were no real star after Agassi and Sampras started to fade out. There were many boy-wonders but never a champion. But, then these guys showed up Nadal and Federer. Just perfect setting any tennis fan would ask for. A demi-god - stylish backhand - devastating inside out forehand - excellent serve - great volleying - master in grass and hardcourt - Roger Federer. A rebel - big biceps - big top spin forehand - great court coverage - a clay court specialist - Raefal Nadal. Federer my current god was not like my previous god sampras, he can win in clay too. I expect him to win the french open. He has lost 5 of 6 matches to Nadal. Most of them in clay. Believe me Federer would crush Nadal in grass (any average grass court player can crush Nadal in grass.) This rivalry is healthy for tennis. for non-believers this is what happened in Rome Masters final.

Federer - Nadal has a good build up da.
But u see - there is a BIG gulf in class between Federer and Nadal. Roger is this "all finesse" guy, who can up his game to a level mortals cannot. Today - he IS the guy in Men's tennis. The competitor, Mr. Rafael, is all power and not much of brains too. He is 19 and has a long time to come - so hopefully he'll learn.

Jus to explain stuff abt the gulf b/w the 2 players - Federer has improved his game on Clay hugely, since the days he started. Now he can compete really with Rafael, push him into the 5th set and all. Take Rafael out of clay, and as u said - many can win against him. The competition b/w Nadal and Federer is interesting ONLY because that is the only thing Federer is yet to win convincingly - Nadal on Clay. He's just one on the hopefuls. Nothing more.

BTW - i was a BIG fan of Pete as well. I see a lot of similarities b/w Pete and Roger, even in their Career paths i hear. There seems to be a lot of similarity in the number of titles they've won. Roger just makes Tennis watching a pleasant experience.

I like Federer-Safin matches; they are as interesting as Federer-Nadal clay court matches. Safin in tennis is like Shane Bond in cricket, both are great but they are away 11/12 months bcoz of injury.
Oflate, my passion towards tennis has increased many-a-fold, though i started watching tennis when Jim Courier and Becker were playing. Playing tennis is really a fun and now-a-days, I love playing tennis more than playing cricket.

Federer lost to Nadal again :)
A great match i hear!!! 5 setter, as is the norm, each taking alternate sets and the decider ending in a tie-breaker. What else can we ask for!??! I dint get to see it btw :(

Safin is not like Shane warne. he is like brain lara. if he likes he wud play well. if doesn't like, he wud shout lose concentration bow out to a 1000 ranked player. Safin has amazing talent. in my opinion only guy who can match Federer.

Safin is just one more on the May-be's list da.
He's got all that Federer has got, and a coach too :)
The only that differs the 2 is the space b/w the 2 ears!!!

How abt Hewitt, the one who was dating Kim Clijsters?!?!
He fought and fought and fought with Federer some time ago.
i remember seeing some good games between the 2 of them.

@ Iday: Safin had won against both Hewitt and Federer but knee injury is keeping him away for a long time. He matches Federer shot by shot.
Hewitt...even my team mates (Australians) don't like Hewitt?!

@Ram: I compared Safin with Shane Bond and not Share Warne.

Nalbandian is yet another player who is striving to get into this league. He is one among the few who have winning record against Federer (guess he won a couple of times).

@kart: I accept ur point abt Safin da - but those were days ago with Federer being an unfinished product :) The last 2 years or so, which is when Federer has really grown into a BIG BIG player, i cannot recollect Safin winning over Federer at all. Is this the period in which he's been out of the game coz of injury. Even if that is the case, we cannot say Safin WILL win Federer in his form today. Federer's game has definitely reached a diff level compared to where it was some 3 yrs ago. Federer Vs Safin, i'll place all my eggs of Federer. But it will be an interesting match tough.

And continuing the series of similarities - Hewitt is pretty much like our dear Ajit Agarkar. He can be brilliant, when he wants to be. And pity that he never wants to be brilliant. In some of the few times he wanted to be brilliant, he was facing Federer (which might be the reason why he wanted to play well). So he could play really really well. Good player AFAI think - but not consistent. One more on the May-be's list for sure. I'm not a fan of this Hewitt guy. It ia federer all the way for me :)

I see David Nalbandian more of a hard hitting player, rather than an all round player. But Nalbandian is a much better Grass court player compared to Nadal. And he is improving his game on grass too. The point is that he has to improve his game as such - not w.r.t. the surfaces.

And yeah - surprise surprise. Nalbandian leads Federer 6-5 in head-to-head comparison. But, since 2003 (which is the beginning of Federer's curerent form) Nalbandian has won only once!!!
