Ek Choti si group story
Hmm....., the short story writing went well i suppose. Kart, Iday, Kriz - congrats and thanks for making it. Now, lets start another version of it - the one proposed by Iday originally. Let us write a really long story something in line of sindbad. I don't prefer random story development where anybody can drag from any point. This is to avoid concurrency problem. First let us search the interested people and develop the story in round-robin fashion. Story development could be of any propotion. If the responsible member fails to write for that week, then others have to continue. Let us discuss the topic, rules and volunteers in this thread and go on with the story writing from another post.

Mama...I have a story which I thought of long before... actually i typed a couple of paragraphs... so i will blog that and you guys can continue...

    Rules:
    1) I will end the story by suggesting a name (Say Ram) and he could start continuing it for max of 100 words.
    2) If the guy isn't interested in continuing, he could simply post a comment that points to another guy.
    3) The whole story will be in a single blog and so, who ever continues writing the story should post it as a comment to the main blog.

hmm... the title of the post gives me some wrong ideas!!! And i look at the list of congratulated people, i find my name sandwitched between two of the famous (no no - not notorious. they are really famous!!!) "masala" writers of our class!!! And to sum it all - look at the guy who made the post!!! Not another story with a old man, a old-looking young wife and a teeny-peepy tom ;)

Jokes apart - me game. Looks like fun :)

With our kind of setup, Rams proposal sound good. One week time for the thought process (especially for the less creative ones like me), predefined order of writers, allowing some one to opt-out - that shud be it i guess. I guess no one is gonna raise a hair in opposition to these rules.

Now - to the proposed discussion abt the topic, blah blah blah. That wont work well IMHO. We are the same bunch of ppl known to use discussion as a means of procrastination. What i'd suggest is that we just sum up the contributors, figure out a loosely built order and ask the first guy on the list to come up with a beginning. The others can build on it i'm sure.

The only diff in the whole thing, as against the individual story writing, being that here all the individual parts of the story posted by diff individuals will need to finish something in the prev post and start something new for the next guy to complete. So, based on our creativity - we can just go on and on and on...

    An after thought!!!
Is it possible to have a "sticky" post?!?! coz 10 posts down the line, this post will not be on the page :(

@karthik - unlike what my title of the post says, let us start writing a long story. no pointing business. its far more confusing. fixed contributors. round robin is the best.
@iday - as far as the crux of the story. let us write a super human story like shakthiman, superman, harry potter etc. believe me that wud sum up to a good story. for an open source project like this, fantacy story wud be perfect.

Do we really have to fix the crux of the story. I have seen many examples where the idea of the story keeps fluctuating, soemtimes even after every post :) That way, i think, it is more fun :)

let the story parts be in seperate posts no problem.
karthick is ready with the story. now, if we can finalise the volunteers then we can frame the order and then start right a way.

I wrote a story which I thought I completed but Saravanan, the reviewer replied me :
"excellent story da machi but why did you send me only half of it?" :D

i thought of refinig it but never got time.
one problem is it is too long (looks more like a play)... and it will run 4 pages on screen....

daai ram andha kadhaya naan innum post pannalada... yarukkum puriyaadhu... you just tell your opinion if the size would be okay for the blog...and shwetha is a non-existent character....when i was thinking about the story, i was in a dvd shop where i overheard a couple speaking and their names were shwetha and our hero's name
Anyway I'ld post it in our blog for the sake of others who read this without any clue

    In general (excluding the exceptions),

Swetha, Arthi, preethi, indu... are generally modern fig names.

Aruna, Deepa...are names of very averagish girls.

For my story, I chose a modern fig name. I don't want to write another sub-story like Sunil:-)

Mama...how abt writing a novel, with each one of us writing a section of 50 pages (ofcourse after framing the story and partioning it)...

We could call it as 'Gang of 6' (Prad, sunil, iday, kitcha, ram and kart)?!We could pull in other guys who are interested.

One big disadv is that each one of us have a different style of writing, so each section would be in a different style. May be this could work in our adv?! Hmmm...let us not think abt publishing it now but we could try writing it anyway for our own fun?!!

    Any takers?
