A cowardly act!!!
It is time we stopped calling these bastards as terrorists and re-christen them as cowards!!! Yeah - that is what these assholes really are. I am speaking about the killing of engineer Suryanarayan by the Taliban. They abducted him on Friday and then they ended it with this. Is this what they do to let the world know of their so called POWER. They don't have any courage do they??? Let alone terror!!!

Whatever might be their purpose, whatever their claims, whatever their agenda - such dastardly acts of madness are not going to do anything for them right!!! It is just an expense of few bullets for these mindless maniacs - it is a big big loss to his family. My heart reaches out to them to share their grieve at this moment of deep deep sorrow.

If they have any problem with Indians working there, they should have spoken to the Indian government. Okay - we cannot expect these maniacs to be politically correct isn't it. If kidnapping is what they do, they should have kidnapped a government official at least. Not that I hate him or something, he is the representative of our govt there isn't he. They should not have done this to a poor soul, who accepts an assignment in a dangerous place expecting to earn that few bucks more to change the fortune of his family.

If they don't have the spine or the potency to take on their real enemies - they should all kill themselves in cowardice. Not cover their ugly faces at the expense of innocent commoners. They aren't winning anything here are they!?!? Apart from throwing such families into life long sorrow.

Point 1: Machi - i never said India was a Pure-hands country!!! Balochistan is like "u kodanjify my border, i'll kodanjify urs". I mean, India does so many stuff for its own gain!!! Look how silent we were during the recent developments (or its antonymn) in Nepal. Look at Kashmir. Look at the purvachal states. These are long known compromises - brought to my notice around a year and a half before by my Mentor!!! We've been having a lot of discussions abt these "situations" and he always beats me hands down with the kind of info he can produce. I've got the opporunity to read a lot of books and articles thru him, that i can now say that this is a global phenomenon!!! Dog eat Dog!!! Then eat next Dog :)

Point 2: We lack the Know-how?!! I differ. We lack the Guts!!! Can't agree more :) That is all to it.

You dont kill ppl not in uniform in a war machi :) and even if u get hold of an opponent - there are ways to handle a POW!!! You cannot break those rules without facing the effects!!!

My big questions was - India was impotent in preventing this. What will they do now - will they try anything??!?! The answer we all can say is nothing and that's why i get pissed off!!!

See - the opposition will blame the govt for what the taliban did (this, they have already done) and the govt will blame them for something else, some sex scandal tape will come out or it will be a bribe tape. People will be made to forget this whole thing.

this kidnapping thing is the find of the century as far as the terrorists are concerned. (v don't have guts) cent percent correct machi. v want some crazy ppl like indira gandhi or jayalalitha in the centre to tackle all this. leave all this. the way cnn-ibn covered all this was disgusting.

    Adding on to Prad's comments...

It is a widely known theory that the US use the Media as a medium to indoctrinate pro american stuff. The very recent example being the war on Iraq!!! The CNN-IBN theory is a good one machi, though it might appear far stretched!!! I wudnt be suprised either :)

Was it only CNN-IBN?!?! I mean, isnt it the same about every other media channel?!? Anyone read Amir's interview to Tahelka abt the role of media!?!? It has some really true stuff, thought provoking pretty much.

The level to which the media stoops down in search of sound bytes is shameful - to say the least.

    1. The Engineer who was killed did not go on Indian Project but he was sent "onsite" from his Baharain Company.
    2. India don't have military presence there. I don't why would Taliban and Pakistan oppse reconstruction work there.
    3. I second Pradeep's reference to Operation Entebbe. That's the way to go man. Also the way a Russian school hostage crisis ended (they copied it from Arjun film ;D). The way we behaved during the IC814 was not convincing. But you know this is India. People don't lack guts machi. We just don't have right people at the right places. A group of goons in the name of MP, ruling or opposition have been our policy makers. We can't see any strategic step taken by India in the international scenario, except when it comes to complaining about Pakistan. Even this out sourcing and economic booms are not really based on governments policies. They are still confused, if they should make bold announcements on globalisation or appease the communists.
Leave the politicians aside, think about the government offices. Even though I tend to respect our diplomats, looking at the sloths all around in any government office, I doubt the smartness of those who sit in embassies. Given all this, dreaming about India successfully executing an 'Operation Entebbe', is like dreaming Aiswarya Rai would marry me.

Reg ur point 2: Pak does not oppose development work there. It only opposes India participating in the development work being done there. As prad said - it does not want the Indian and Afgan govts to be dhosti-dhosti, which would be a big big trouble to the trouble maker pakistan!!! Even if the US govt is close to the Afgan govt, pak can either appease Afgans or force them thru US to let their undercover assholes do their work. But think of a situation where the Afgan govt provides all the help for the Indian govt to scan its borders (or atleast it shares info) - the biggest industry in pakistan will have no place to hide!!! If the US suddenly becomes anti pak (which it is always afraid of and which the US will always keep that way) - pakistan will have no way to let the sons of their soil outside their border before they enact the so called crackdown on terrorists :) Lot of hypothesis i agree. But if these come true, they'd be screwed :) that's what they're afraid of!

I Wiki-ed on Entebbe and, well, felt good!!! Really! It was nice to read such things abt real. U guys are right - we can only dream :) A politician, ruling or opposition or neutral, speaking against the US is a big big stunt these days man :o

And - shud we again start speakin abt our politicians?!! Waste of time me thinks!!! BTW - Pakistan is a constant thing machi. U wont hear anything abt it for a long time and when someone in the cabinet does something bad, someone else springs out something else abt Pakistan. Not that they are good guys and all. But it is the brahmasthram for these politicians :)

BTW - This is a detailed explanation on Operation Entebbe by the Israel Defense Forces themselves http://www1.idf.il/DOVER/site/mainpage.asp?sl=EN&id=5&docid=23016&year=3&Pos=1

    I find it "interestting" ;)
